Partnership with South East Water

South East Water logoAt Veg Out we're well aware of the importance of conserving water. In 2004, our then local member and water minister John Thwaites officially launched an innovative partnership between South East Water and Veg Out Community Gardens in St Kilda to illustrate the benefits of saving water.

This partnership is an example of South East Water's innovative approach to waterwise gardening, and is designed to illustrate to the community how easy it is to save water. It includes a range of education programs and water conservation measures.

The partnership included two 9,000 litre and a 4,500 litre rainwater tanks. These were installed at Veg Out during May 2004. The tanks mean that roof and other runoff rainwater that would have previously gone to waste is now stored for use within Veg Out.

And late in 2007 further water tanks will be installed, to fully conserve all rainwater for use in the gardens.

So come on down to Veg Out and see water saving in action!
